1. Catch a film at Admiral Twin Drive-In

If you haven’t been to the Admiral Twin Drive-In, you need to. There is nothing quite like catching a movie on a warm spring night in your car. Many consider catching a film here to be a must-do while living in Tulsa. There are 2 screens on the east and west sides and shows are only on the weekends.

2. Explore a rainforest in Oklahoma City at the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory.

Take a road trip and enjoy the sites and attractions around Oklahoma City. One of our favorite activities there is the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory, within the Myriad Botanical Gardens. The building itself is beautiful and unique in design. It includes 13,000 square feet of plants in two different climates: The Tropical Wet Zone and the Tropical Dry Zone. There are over 750 varieties of plants and waterfalls in this magnificent attraction.

You can stop by for a visit on Monday-Saturday from 9am – 5pm. On Sunday you can visit between 11am – 5pm.

3. Go fishing at one of Tulsa’s urban fisheries.

There is something relaxing about casting a line and sitting in the sunshine during warm Spring months. Tulsa is home to many urban fisheries that offer rest and relaxation out in nature, along with some great fishing opportunities. So round up your fishing gear and a few friends and head outside.

4. Take your kids on a dinosaur adventure at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History.

One of our favorite family fun destinations is the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History. Take  trip to Norman to visit this wonderful museum – the kids will love it! One of their current exhibits “Be the Dinosaur” is an immersive dino-riffic experience that transports you to another time when dinosaurs walked the earth.

Plus, if you go on the first Monday of every month, kids under 17 get in for FREE! Afterwards, take a stroll around the University of Oklahoma campus, where the museum is located.

5. Find your inner cowboy at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City is home to one of our favorite museums: The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. There’s fun for the whole family! Check out the 16-seat movie house, lots of interactive games and activities paying homage to cowboys and cowgirls of the silverscreen. Plus, there is a Children’s Cowboy Corral for the little ones. Put on your cowboy boots and head here for some good old fun.

6. Walk along dinosaur tracks in Kenton, Oklahoma.

Take a road trip to Kenton Oklahoma to walk in along the dinosaur tracks near Black Mesa.
Preserved in Sandstone strata next to Carrizo Creek, these dinosaur tracks were discovered in the 1980s. Scientists are not sure what species made these tracks but you can certainly see the two sets of prehistoric tracks along the creek bed. You can only visit the tracks in daylight hours, since they are on private property.

7. Explore the Talimena National Scenic Byway

To experience he beauty of nature in East Oklahoma and West Arkansas, check out more than 50 miles of the Talimena National Scenic Byway. Enjoy adventure with majestic views, hiking trails, camping locations and an adventure in the Winding Stair Mountains.

Pack up a picnic, camping equipment and head out for a road trip into nature. This is one of our favorite ways to experience the natural beauty and wonder of Oklahoma.

8. Spend a Weekend in Dripping Springs State Park

Spend a weekend out in Okmulgee Oklahoma at Dripping Springs State Park. You can bounce between Dripping Springs State Park and Okmulgee State Park for relaxation and some family friendly fun. Go fishing for trophy bass in Dripping Springs Lake, choose from two campgrounds, go for a swim, and relax among the Oak trees.

9. Experience another culture at the Chickasaw Cultural Center

Take the drive to Sulphur to learn about and experience Chickasaw culture at the Chickasaw Cultural Center. It is a fascinating, educational experience that is good for the whole family. There are interactive exhibits, traditional Chickasaw dancing and the Chickasaw language. There is plenty to do and see with shops, dining, fine art galleries, exhibits and activities.

10. Write a poem at the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry.

The Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry is a fun, family friendly museum celebrating the art of poetry and Oklahoma culture. This hands on museum has plenty of opportunities to get active and create and personalize your own poems. It is fun for the whole family and all ages. The museum opens on March 18th and has monthly events to enjoy.
